To Take Out or Not to Take Out....is that the Question?

I love to cook, and the only aprons I have are 2 my mom made for me and 1 I was given as a thank-you present for a wedding I helped cater. Well, that wedding happened almost 14 years ago! (where has all the time gone?). Anyway, although those aprons are well-used and appreciated, they are worn, stained & frayed.

About a year ago, I saw Amy's Tie One On site and thought I'd like to give it a try. But never did. I saw her challenge for this month: rick rack! An old-fashioned but fun trimming. So I sewed a reversible apron using rick rack, felt, a felted cut-up sweater and cotton canvas. I call it my Take-Out/Anti-Take Out Apron.

At first it was just going to be an anti-take-out-stay-at-home-and-cook apron, but then being someone who actually enjoys take-out and restaurants on occasion, I changed it to a reversible apron. So depending upon my mood & time constraints, I can tell my husband and whoever else is interested, where dinner will be on any given night.

Red Friday

Although I don't usually wear red, I really do the like the color - just in smaller doses. Well, this has been a good Colour Week. Thank you, Julie.

Yellow Thursday

A perfectly juicy, very yellow pear. Just right. This is the 4th day of Colour Week. It's been fun so far and a nice break from the average week.

Pink Wednesday

Hard pressed for pink. I actually like the color, but I find that have so little of it in my house, in my closet or around my yard. What I really wanted to post was my daughter's pink cheeks when she was a baby, but I can't find that photo right now. So these pinks will have to suffice.

Green Tuesday

Ahhhh....green. This was both an easy one and difficult one. Easy because I have so many different green things around me, but difficult to choose only one. So I thought, what better way to share green for Colour Week than to combine it with another favorite pastime of mine: eating!

Mail Goodies

Since we were sick for too long a time and busy with life, I forgot to post a treat I found in the mail (almost 2 weeks ago!) : 2 handmade cards and a freebie fabric. Lovely. All sent to me by the generous Miss Frugality. Thank you. I hope to return the favor very soon.

A Bit Better and some Turquoise

We had quite a week. I could have shown you piles of used tissues and mounds of dirty clothes and perhaps a full sink, but I didn't. My poor parents arrived for a visit to a house full of sickies! I had such happy expectations for the week of their visit: dinners out, yarn shopping, visiting some local attractions, more yarn shopping...

But the week went more like: plummeting freezing weather, dying plants, coughing and hacking, high temperatures...overall malaise. To top it all off: a visit to the emergency room on Friday-Saturday! Yeah!

Now, we're improving. And I thought I'd add a photo for Colour Week. Turquoise. One of my favorites.
